Arkansas gem hunter says he found what may be a $1 million diamond

What happened

Jack Pearadin, a Navy reservist who has hunted gems at Arkansas's Crater of Diamonds State Park since 2013, unearthed a 6.03-carat diamond earlier this year and livestreamed the discovery on TikTok. Collectors told him the stone could be worth over $1 million, though an appraiser told the Associated Press it might fetch about a fourth of that. It is the largest diamond found at the park this year. The park lets visitors keep what they find; more than 37,000 diamonds have been discovered there since 1972.
