What happened. How we know. Nothing more.
Humans choose the news
Approved editors decide which current events deserve a Just The Wire record. We do not let an engagement algorithm or advertiser decide what matters.
AI challenges the writing
The Editorial Scan checks for loaded language, advocacy framing, attribution problems, weak sourcing, overstatement and duplicate events. AI is a guardrail, not the publisher.
Evidence stays visible
Every story is designed around source receipts. Primary evidence is marked separately from independent reporting and background material.
Uncertainty stays visible
Developing news remains labeled developing. Claims are attributed. We do not manufacture certainty to make a headline stronger.
Corrections are public
Material corrections and updates are logged on the story. We do not silently rewrite the record.
Advertising is separate
Advertisers may buy clearly labeled ad space. They cannot influence story selection, ranking, sourcing, wording, verification or corrections.
Access stays free
The public news product is built to remain free. We will not turn basic factual context or source receipts into a paywall advantage.
The newsroom is open by application
We want thoughtful contributors with different backgrounds and viewpoints who can follow the same evidence-first standard.
Qualified readership, not surveillance
Contributor Share uses anonymous first-party session signals such as meaningful reading time and scroll depth. We do not need a reader’s name, email or stored IP address to count a qualified read.
Writers can share in ad revenue
When advertising is active, a configured share of net advertising revenue can be allocated to eligible contributors based on qualified readership. Raw shares, partisan ratings and outrage do not determine pay.
